The towering structures soar almost 40 feet tall, their pleated-fabric-covered steel ribs tilting like cacti seeking the sun. Openings at their crowns — star-shaped oculi — frame the sky, echoing John Lautner’s iconic Bob Hope House in Palm Springs.
