‘Timber Weaves’ for design challenge ‘Onze Energie, Ons Landschap’

‘Timber Weaves’ is a design solution that addresses the highway noise and air pollution problems of the Strabrechtse Heide, the Netherlands. The project consists of an undulating wooden noise barrier and three ecombiducts.

These nature bridges offer passage possibilities for animals and insects. The wooden construction of the bridges contains solar panels that generate a total of 33,600 kWh of energy. Each bridge also contains an air purification installation that can clean 80,000 m3 of air per hour from nitrogen and particulate matter.
